Is the material of a leather jacket what gives it its personality of strength, or is it the cultural background of it such as the types of subcultures that commonly wore this type of jacket. It could even be the materials restrictive qualities which give it that 'look'. It's hard to pinpoint what exactly creates this sort of impression from a garment made of leather. By deconstructing the material and jacket I wished to explore whether this persona was dependant on the material itself however realised that restriction dud not just rely on leather but could actually be created through any type of material. The completely opposing satin challenges the leather jacket to remain a restrictive and strong garment.
